Vernon Cecil was raised on an irrigated farm in Weld County and farmed northeast of Galeton, Colorado. In 1976 he obtained his real estate license focusing almost exclusively in agriculture and recreational projects. He joined Terra West Real Estate Services in 1995 and specializes in farms, ranches and rural acreages. He currently owns several farms and manages several commercial properties. Vernon is also a licensed real estate broker associate in Wyoming.

Vernon and his wife, Roberta, have four married children and 12 grandchildren.
